Confirmation, like all sacraments, is an unmerited grace. It is part of the way that God chooses to share his love and strengthen the baptized.
Here at St. Mark, we are privileged to help youth prepare for Confirmation through the communities of family, parish, and youth ministry.
Parishioners entering their eighth-grade year have the opportunity to begin preparation for the sacrament of Confirmation.
This is a one-year preparation process that begins in September and concludes in April.
The candidate seeking Confirmation must have received the sacraments of Baptism, Reconciliation, and Eucharist.
Anyone who is older and wishes to receive the sacrament of Confirmation, please contact Bethany Kuhn.
All Confirmation candidates are expected to attend the following meetings. Attendance is important. If a candidate must miss an evening, it is expected that they will contact Bethany to see what they will/have missed.
Meetings will be on Sunday Evenings in the St. Mark Cafeteria from 7:00-8:30 pm (it is typically the first and third Sunday with a few exceptions).
Confirmation Prep Meetings are as follows:
Service Hours:
All Confirmation candidates are encouraged and expected to attend/participate in
at least 3 service activities. There will be opportunities for some service during the regular Confirmation Meetings as well as additional opportunities added throughout the year. More information to come.
Letter to Archbishop:
A letter to the Archbishop is required prior to Confirmation. Candidates will be prepared to write this based on our Confirmation Prep Meetings.
Candidates are required to attend a Confirmation retreat. If for some reason they are unable to attend, contact Bethany as soon as possible to talk about alternative plans.
